One thank-you, three screens.

A customer tips the agent who solved their problem. The agent is paid, the dashboard shows who was thanked, and the tip is on the next payroll report.

The tip pageA link in every reply. Customers tip in seconds, with no account to create.
The recognition dashboardWho customers thank, on which conversations, month after month.
The Gusto-ready tip reportEvery employee's tips for the pay period, ready to import.

Your customers fund the recognition. You get better service.

A tip link goes out with every resolved conversation. Here is what that changes for the company, and for the people on both ends of a tip.

  • Great service gets noticed, every day.

Every resolved ticket can end with a tip. Agents see which answers earned one, and so does the rest of the team. The extra effort on a hard case finally has a visible payoff.

  • Recognition you don't have to budget for.

The money comes from customers who chose to give it. Your cost is the team plan, the same every month however many tips come in.

  • A quality signal you can trust.

A customer reaching for their card says more than a five-star click. See who gets thanked, on which tickets, month after month, and bring it to performance reviews.

  • A reason for good agents to stay.

Recognition is part of why people stay. Here it comes from the customers they helped, and it shows up in their pay. It also makes a strong line in your job ads.

For your agents. Extra income from the people they helped, with their name on it and often a note. Paid straight to their own bank account, and reported to payroll for employees.

For your customers. A real way to say thanks when someone fixed their problem. Always optional, one tap, and no account to create: card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

The money goes straight to the person. The paperwork depends on who they are.

No pooling, no company account in the middle. Every tip lands in the recipient's own bank account. For employees, Tipiro also gives payroll the numbers it needs to withhold taxes; contractors are simply paid.

Contractors. Paid directly.

Freelancers and contractors get each tip straight in their own bank account. No payroll, no W-2: they report tips as their own income.

Recipients onboard once (identity and bank details). Payouts usually arrive in 2–3 business days.

Employees. Paid directly, reported to payroll.

Employees get their tips straight in their bank account too, but for them tips are taxable wages. Tipiro tracks every tip per employee and pay period and hands payroll a ready-to-import report, so income tax and FICA are withheld through regular payroll. No paper Form 4070, no chasing.

Tip reporting, done for you.

In the US, tips your employees receive are wages for tax purposes, even when the money goes straight to them. Tipiro keeps the paperwork straight:

Employee tip reporting
Employees who receive $20 or more in tips in a month must report them to their employer by the 10th of the next month. Tipiro produces that report for every pay period.
Withholding through payroll
Reported tips are subject to income tax withholding and Social Security and Medicare (FICA), taken from regular wages and shown on the W-2.
“No tax on tips” deduction
The 2025 federal deduction only covers occupations on the Treasury's list of traditionally tipped jobs, and FICA still applies. Check your roles before telling agents their tips are tax-free.
Contractors
Paid directly and kept out of the payroll report: contractors report tips as their own income.

You get a per-employee tip report for every pay period and a Gusto-ready CSV. Confirm your setup with your payroll provider or a tax adviser before launch.

Talk to us

A 5% platform fee on each tip, plus payment processing charges. Customers can choose to cover the fees at checkout.

What teams ask us.

Where does the tip money go?

Straight to the person who earned it. Each tip is paid to the employee's or contractor's own bank account. Your company never holds or pools it.

Can we tip contractors too?

Yes. Contractors are paid directly, like employees, but they stay out of the payroll tip report: they report tips as their own income.

Do we have to report tips to payroll?

Yes. For employees, tips are taxable wages. Anyone receiving $20 or more in tips in a month must report them to you by the 10th of the following month, and you withhold income tax and FICA through payroll. Tipiro produces that report for you every pay period.

Does “no tax on tips” apply to our agents?

Only if their occupation is on the Treasury's list of jobs that traditionally receive tips, and only for federal income tax: Social Security and Medicare still apply. Check your roles against the list before telling agents their tips are tax-free.

Which payroll providers do you support?

Tipiro exports a Gusto-ready CSV today. Providers that import tips from a file can use the same export with a column mapping.

What do agents need to get paid?

A one-time onboarding: identity verification and bank details. Payouts usually arrive in 2–3 business days.

Can we keep or pool the tips?

No. Tips belong to the person who earned them. Tipiro pays each recipient directly and doesn't support pooling or employer deductions.

Is there a minimum or maximum tip?

Customers can tip from $1 up to $9,999. A 5% platform fee applies, plus payment processing charges, and customers can choose to cover the fees at checkout.

Won't customers feel pressured to tip?

No. The link appears once the conversation is resolved, tipping stays optional, and nothing changes for a customer who skips it. They choose the amount, starting at $1.

Do our agents have to change how they work?

No. The tip link goes into their email signature and their helpdesk replies (Zendesk, Intercom, Help Scout, Front). They keep answering tickets as usual.

Does it replace our CSAT or NPS survey?

No, the two work together. CSAT tells you how customers rated the conversation; tips tell you who they valued enough to pay.
